What’s lurking under Your Kitchen Sink? {Shaklee Get Clean Giveaway} (CLOSED)

I am the first to admit that my cleaning skills are not fabulous. I am sure that Jay would use a slightly harsher word, but I try to keep things a little more positive. 😉 My biggest reason for not getting elbow deep in cleaning products is, well, the cleaning products themselves. I cannot stand the smell of all the harsh chemicals – it gives me an instant headache.

Because of this, Jay always laughs anytime I am contacted to review a cleaning product. He was a little disbelieving when I told him I had applied for the http://shakleeblogger.comWhat’s lurking under Your Kitchen Sink?” campaign. He finds it very ironic, and then he realizes that he is the one that gets to test them and perks up a bit (Unlike me, Jay LOVES to clean. Really. It’s nuts!).

When my huge box of Shaklee goodies arrived, however, he was shocked when I told him that I got to try them out first!

Why was I so excited to all of the products in my new Shaklee Get Clean kit?

Well, the main reason was because the entire line is natural and nontoxic – that means that they are safe for my kids, my home, my pets and my planet. AND this means that it wont give me a nasty headache while I am using them.

One of things that Shaklee wanted me to do before I started using my new Get Clean products, was to take a peak at my current cleaning products and find out what was really in some of the cleaners in my home. After checking my current products at the household data base, I knew that I was right in not using them. The amount of chemicals and toxins in them is ridiculous.

Here are some of our cleaners - wood polishers, floor cleaner, etc

We don't keep anything under the sink -- because the kids get into EVERYTHING, but these are some of our daily use cleaners. I couldn't find our AP cleaner ... I think Jay may moved it somewhere else....

I then took a closer look at my new Get Clean Kit.

I was so impressed with not only what was in them, but what was NOT in them.

I placed my kit on the table and started to put together my products. Most of them were ready to go – I promptly placed the pump into the Fresh Laundry Concentrate Detergent, and brought that downstairs with the Soft Fabric Dryer Sheets. I had to put the Nature Bright® Laundry Booster and Stain Remover into its refillable container and that went down with it.

The Dish Washer Automatic Concentrate had to be poured into its refillable container, and I decided to run a load of dishes before I even put it away. My dishwasher is not the best, and I find that my dishes almost always come out with about a 50/50 ratio of clean and still dirty dishes. I was skeptical that this dish washer soap would be able to effectively clean my dishes, but I have been very happy with it. The dishes are coming out cleaner then they were before, and I love knowing that the plates and cup we are eating off of weren’t just covered in chemicals.

By far my favorite product is the Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate.

I love that with just a tiny bit I can make a big bottle of cleaner. Jay watched me put this together, and to say he was skeptical of how it would work is a complete understatement. He was rolling his eyes, and huffing and puffing about the fact that I was throwing out his “proven to work” cleaners for one consisting of mainly tap water. My son, on the other hand, was thrilled and could not wait to get his little hands on a spray bottle! (Did I mention that E loves to clean?)

I didn’t say anything while Jay was making these comments (which is super rare!), I just kept putting my products together. When I was done, I let E clean the kitchen windows with my newly made Window and Glass cleaner. He got to use Super Microfiber Window Cloth and was super excited to be able to actually clean with me.

I took the All Purpose Solution that I had made and got busy in the kitchen. Cleaning the counters, refrigerator, even the sink. I couldn’t believe how easily they were wiping clean, and how clean they were coming out! I used the Degreaser on the stove and microwave, and it they came clean with very little hard scrubbing (we have an electric stove and I am notorious for over boiling anything I cook on top of it).

When Jay finally came out to the kitchen, I saw him silently inspecting my work. This would have normally annoyed the crap out of me, but when he had nothing to say, I knew that he was realizing just how well these new cleaning products were working. Since this first test day, he hasn’t said anything negative about any of the products. He is using all of them, and amazingly enough – has NO complaints at all.

My Cleaning Kit!! LOVE IT!

I could honestly go on and on about these products – I really do love them.
