One thing that V really wanted to do this summer was go camping. I am not a huge fan of camping outside (it ALWAYS rains when I camp) but I figured we could have some fun hanging out in the yard in tent and then sleeping inside. This has proven to be more difficult then I had imagined it would be.
We have had a very extreme summer — going from way to hot days to super rainy and stormy ones.
I have had my Abo Gear Instant Max Shelter from Beachstore.com for over a month now, and I finally got sick of waiting for an ideal day to use it outside. So my kids are having a blast camping in the playroom today!
I was a bit nervous about setting up a real tent. I have no “outdoors” skills what so ever, and would’ve been totally lost if this tent required any type of assembly. Thankfully, it was as easy it as the website promised!
The entire processes of taking the tent out of the bag to fully assembled and ready to go took less then 2 minutes – and that includes walking it from one end of my house to the other!! It was so quick and even easier then I had hoped it would be.
My kids were beyond thrilled when they saw it – V couldn’t believe that she could actually stand up inside of it. E pretended to “swim” along the bottom of it, proclaiming that it was an ocean full of sharks. As I type this, they are laying comfortably inside on piles of blankets and pillowing watching a movie on our portable player.
They have both asked that I “never take it down”
I can already tell that we are going to get a ton of use out of this shelter both inside and out. There are multiple ways to secure it on the beach or in the yard — with a set of pegs and side pockets to hold sand. It is big enough that all four of us could fit comfortably inside, and with doors on two sides, getting in and out will be a breeze.
Now for an appropriately themed dinner – hotdogs, hamburgers, and of course some marshmallows for dessert!
What is your favorite camping memory? Have your kids ever had an indoor camping adventure?
