Sadie: The Paper Crown Princess

My daughter loves to read. She picks books over just about any activity and her perfect day ends with a stack of bedtime stories. While she enjoys a wide variety of topics, princess themed books tend to be the most loved.

And I am okay with that.

That is because I make most of the book purchases and I am very selective about what type of princess books she gets to read.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the classic princess stories as much as the next gal, but I also want to empower my daughter and teach her that she does not need to wait around to be “rescued” by a handsome prince. That is just not realistic. I want to introduce her to strong female characters that will inspire her to follow her dreams and work hard to reach her goals.

That is why I love Sadie: The Paper Crown Princess so much.

Yes, it is a story about a princess… but she is so much more then just dresses, pretty shoes and a crown.

She is inspirational.

She doesn’t fit into the princess mold, and she is okay with that. She is herself. She is kind, caring, empathetic, and helpful. While the fairy godmothers at the Princess Academy want her to be prim and proper, Sadie realizes that she just can’t do that. She needs to be who she is and to follow her own heart and head, instead of rules that others think should define her.

I just love the story.

Oh … Did I mention that V loves it as well? Well she does! It has quickly become one of her most requested stories, and I find her talking about it to her brother, her doll and just about anyone that will listen throughout the day.

And the illustrations are pretty awesome too.

Sadie: The Paper Crown Princess is a must have book for all little girls that love princesses. This book will show them that you don’t have to wait around to be rescued, and that its okay to march to the beat of your own drum!
