My birthday has come and gone this year like any other, but I must say that this was a very good one! Jay, V and E worked very hard to give me a special day, and I love all that they did!
V woke me up bright and early because she just couldn’t contain herself and wait to tell me ‘happy birthday’. She then took E to play so that I could go back to sleep! LOL
My mom came over mid-morning to visit and stayed for lunch – where the cat gave me a delightful gift, he stole all the lunch meat (turkey) off of the counter so that I got to have a toast sandwich instead of turkey and cheese! V thought that this was very funny…. it took me a while to see the humor in it, however.
Jay came home early from work, and brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and some candy (as per V’s instructions) and we got ready to go out for a late lunch/early dinner. We went to Red Lobster – one of my favorites (their cheddar biscuits are SO good!) – and I was very happy that both kids were on their best behavior.
The day was rounded out with a special picture that V drew for me, and a purple birthday cake with different colored polka-dots!
It was a wonderful day! (AND I got to read my book after the kids went to sleep with no complaints from Jay!!)
That was just my first birthday, my second one is today.
Yup, I have two birthdays – hehe. I have a very interesting birthday story:
I was born in a hospital in upstate New York. When my mom and dad went in, they hospital staff was given a little shock – I was going to be born soon rather than later. My doctor didn’t even have time to change out of his regular clothes and into scrubs – yup, it was that fast, he just made it in time. Right after I was born, my dad overheard the nurse telling the doctor that she didn’t know what to do because she had already filled my birth certificate out with the date of March 18th assuming that I wouldn’t be born until the following morning. Because I had been born only a few minutes to midnight on the 17th, the doctor told the nurse to write that I was born at midnight and not to worry about it. My mom had no idea that this had happened until my dad told her a few days later. Needless to say, she was not very happy, but by that time it was too late to have it changed.
I, however, have never minded the mix up – I have always celebrated two days! It has had to come to an end last year, though, because how do you explain to a then 3 year old that you get two birthdays and they only get one?!
It does make for an interesting story though!
Hope everyone had a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day!
