Gardening is something that I have just gotten into these past few summers. I have never been able to keep house plants alive, and it came as a complete and total shock to everyone when I managed to grow a garden. To be honest — I was very shocked myself!
My kids, on the other hand, have very green thumbs. V has been gardening with my mom since she was old enough to walk, and E has loved to help us here each year when we plant. So I am sure that you can imagine how excited they were when I pulled out some Miracle-Gro Kids Greenhouse kits!!
The could hardly wait for me to get the packages opened, and I was shocked that they were both so focused when they started planting. E planted a tomato plant in his ModPod planter, and V planted three different kinds of flowers in her Disney Princess Castle Greenhouse.
We have since moved E’s tomato plant into the garden and V’s flowers are still growing in the greenhouse, but we moved it outside. The cat’s kept trying to knock it over (and they actually managed to get it off the counter once.)
I was impressed with how easy it was to assemble the princess castle – the ModPod is ready to go right out of the wrapper. The directions were easy to follow, and the kids just had a blast! All the plants but one have made it — One plant in V’s greenhouse grew mold and ended up dying, but I think it was because that one was over-watered.
We even ended up buying a few more of the small Miracle-Gro greenhouse to start some of our other seeds, and we have been very impressed with them as well! They are super affordable and come with everything you need. I can’t wait to use these in the house again this winter to keep fresh herbs growing and on hand all winter long.
