I have always wondered how to make some of my favorite items – lip balm, soap, perfume, and those neat bath fizzies – but I have been way too intimidated to try making them myself. All the different products available, and the numerous books all claiming that their way is the best … as a busy mom, I just don’t have time to sit down and weed through it all. Kiss Naturals has made it easy to make your own natural products by putting together really fun do-it-yourself craft kits!
I asked V which kid she would like to do, and being true to her 4 year old self, she decided on the lip balm kit. I must tell you, I was not surprised. She has a makeup bag full of chap-stick and other types of lip gloss that she loves to glob on when she is dressing up. I knew this would be the perfect rainy (or snowy!) day activity for us.
The kit arrived in just a few day, and the snow day accompanied it. We went to work right away – V was so excited by the though of 10 new lip balms that she could hardly contain herself!
It was very easy to make, and V did everything but melt the ingredients on the stove. She added them all to the pot, mixed them together, and helped me add the flavor and label the jars. All it all it was a very quick and easy project – the longest part is the waiting (one hour) while the lip balms set.
Once they were set V dug in! That child had more lip balm on than I have ever seen!! She was so proud of her finished product.
I really like that this lip balm kit is all natural and doesn’t contain any additives, dyes, synthetics or fillers. This is something that is super important to me, largely due to the fact that V is sensitive to some additives in products. I was amazed at how easy it was to make the lip balm, and very happy that two different essential oils were included – I am a huge mint fan and V couldn’t wait to try the orange. I really appreciated that everything was pre-measured and ready to go and that the directions were very easy to follow.
This was such a fun product I can’t wait to try some of the other DIY craft kits Kiss Naturals offers!
