I have lived in the Northeast all my life. And I have to tell you — I really am NOT crazy about the snow. I was never one to partake in winter sports. Well, that isn’t entirely true. I did try to ice skate … once, as a child, and that was it. It was much to cold for me to actually have fun.
When winter rolls around and the snow is inches (sometimes feet!) high, I prefer to sit by the fireplace or curl up in bed with a really good book.
But now I have kids … kids that are old enough to want to play in the snow – and avoiding it all together is completely impossible.
Yes, the kids will play together outside without me, but they really like me to join in the fun.
And honestly, I just can’t resist those cute little bundled up bodies and faces!!
To get ready for this year, I pulled out my favorite snow boots, found a pair of adult snow pants {which I think are really for those crazy people that enjoy winter sports!
} and found a great winter coat.
It is a very good think I was prepared this year! We have gotten multiple storms already, and inches upon inches of snow. And winter isn’t even over yet. We usually get one more snow and/or ice store before March is over.
While playing outside may not be my all time favorite winter activity, I do like making my kids smile. But I have to say, the best part about getting cold is warming up — with hot cocoa, fluffy blanks and lots of giggles while we talk about our snowy adventures!
