With Halloween fast approaching you might be looking for some ideas to zing up your costumes. Store bought costumes can look great but there is only so much enjoyment you can get from a costume designed by someone else. Halloween should be about getting creative and messy, so have a look at the videos bellow and see what kinds of icky, sticky Halloween stuff you can create with things from around the house.

How to Make a Realistic Fake Beard

You will need:

  • Teabag
  •  Tub of Strong Hair Wax.

How to Make Fake Blood

You will need:

  • Syrup
  • water
  • red food coloring
  • blue food coloring
  • a cup
  • a mixing stick

How to Make Green Slime

You will need:

  • Water
  • PVA glue
  • Borax
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Blue food coloring.

How to Make Fake Bruises

What you need:

  • Felt tip pens in purple, red, brown, green and blue
  • Cotton balls.

You can use the above techniques to add a bit of extra grisly realism to your costumes. Blood and bruises to a zombie outfit, realistic stubble to a hobo, some ectoplasm-like green slime to a ghoul or ghost. Kids will love helping you make this stuff and their costumes will stand out when they go trick or treating.
