V and I love to play games. Many nights, she asks for a special game before bed. I am always looking for games that challenge her, but that she can still enjoy playing. Our new favorite game is the Discovery Garden Game from I Can Do That! Games. We LOVE it!
About the Discover Garden Game (as quoted from the website):
Welcome to a whimsical garden of fun and adventure. Flip over a card to reveal what colorful bug, lost tool, or buried heirloom needs to be found. Then spin the spinner and peek below one of five secret locations — from the melon patch or flower field to the fruit orchard or vegetable garden. Do you see a match? If you spin “mix the soil”, watch out! You’ll shake the box and the treasures will slide and hide in new locations. Find the most treasures to win!
When I saw the Discovery Garden Game on the website, I knew that V would love it. It is garden themed gamed board with 5 cut out spaces. Under these cut outs, there is “dirt” filled with treasures that you have to find. I will admit, I was a little apprehensive about playing the game at first. Some preschool games are VERY dull, and they do not seem to hold V’s attention, and I am ready to be done before we start. This game is the complete opposite – I have as much fun playing this with her as she does!
The first thing that I really liked was how easy it was to set up. You take the top off, stack the cards and take out the spinner. That’s it – no set up, no little pieces. EASY!
We played this game two ways – by the rules (where you find 6 items and 6 cards) and V’s way (where you play until ALL the cards are gone!). Both ways were fun, and we usually start with the long way, then do our second (and third, and fourth) game the short way.
It is a very easy game to understand, and there is something that is very fun about shaking the box to mix the dirt. All in all, this is a fantastic game, and one that I know we will being together for a while, and teaching E how to play when he is older!
