I have one independent little guys, especially at the dinner table. If he needs help to eat something he just refuses to eat it. He wants to do it all himself. While he is pretty good at using a fork and a spoon, many meals have been ruined because he has stabbed his tongue with a metal pronged fork or the plastic prongs cannot pick up his food. Needless to say, this is a frustrating way to end a meal!
I have always been a huge fan of Boon products, and when I saw their new ModWare toddler utensils I knew that they would be perfect for E! The colors are super bright and attractive, and I love that they feature an easy to grip and hold handle.
An instant utensil upgrade. ModWare is great for toddlers who are not quite ready to rock adult tableware. The soft, comfy grip is part of an overall ergonomic design that makes eating simple. There are no sharp edges to ruin a meal. Bonus: Great for pretend sword fights!
I was so excited for E to try these out, and the day that they arrived I really put them to the test. We had a variety of food for dinner – rice, chicken, noodles, cucumbers and carrots – and I was anxious to see how the ModWare fork could handle all these different items.
I was very pleased with the ease in which E can use this fork. V noticed as soon as they arrived that they look like a “spork” (half spoon, half fork) – and I have to agree with her! The shorter prongs and larger, slightly indented area to hold food make this a much more effective fork for a child just learning to feed themselves with utensils. I think it is a wonderful design and that it is just perfect for a toddler. I am constantly impressed with the foods that he can now get onto his fork by himself.
I am pretty smitten with the spoon, too! E has eaten many spoonable items with it – soup, ice cream, yogurt, and applesauce, just to name a few – with great success. He gets a good sized bite, and doesn’t loose any of it on the way to his mouth. The spoon has a deeper well then most children’s spoons, and as with the fork, I just love the design. It really does make it easier for E to feed himself!
These utensils are top rack dishwasher safe, and are BpA-free, PVC-free, and phthalate-free. These are E’s favorite utensils, and I am so happy that we are making it through more meals without a fork or spoon related melt down! Plus, much more food is making it to his mouth instead of ending up in his lap… which means less cleanup for me, and a full belly for him.
