A Healthy Focus in 2014

This past year, I have spent a lot of time figuring out how to eat better, what exercises I liked, what ones I hated, and how hard I needed to push myself to get the results that I wanted.

In the process, I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of accomplishing.

I completed a 7 week bootcamp, learned that I actually like to run, and I finally have a pretty good handle on my allergies and what I am able to safely eat.

It has been rough, and there were many times that I just wanted to quit. Or that I wished there was an easier way to reach my goals. But like all things in life, there is no easy answer or quick fix. It took years to put the weight on and to develop unhealthy eating habits, and I have had to accept that it will take time to lose the weight and create new habits.

Sticking with my word of the year, health is going to be a focus for me in 2014.

I want to drop the last bit of weight that I am carrying and I want to make exercise a bigger priority.

I really want to start running again, and have made a plan with my cousin to run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings when all of our kids are in school. I am actually really excited about, and had hoped to start today. We ended up putting it off until Thursday because it is beyond freezing here (it’s 7º out with a windchill that is making it -10!) and while I am bummed to have had to delay, I am keeping my fingers crossed for nicer weather this week so I can get running.

I am hoping to do a quick weekly update on here — mostly to keep myself accountable. I really liked doing the weekly updates as a Mamavation Mom, and I while I wont be doing videos on here, I still want to document my ups and downs.

For an officially start to this year, I weighed myself on January 1st. I am going to limit my time on the scale to once a week – for my own sanity! – and plan to make Monday morning my weigh in day.

January 1st Weight – 176.8 lbs

Hopefully I will see that number steadily decrease in the coming weeks! 🙂
