{A big thanks to Bing for sponsoring this post and encouraging me to find some exciting holiday crafts. #ThisIsBing As always, thoughts are my own and 100% honest}

Holiday time is fast approaching and I feel very unprepared! I had planned on making some of the kids gifts this year, and having them make some gifts for family members. So I have been searching high and low for good holiday gift ideas, and ones that both kids will be able to make on their own.

I decided to do a bit of online searching, and tried Bing Smart Search for the first time.

Bing’s Smart Search in the new Windows is a faster way to find what you’re looking for and get things done on your touch device. One search brings you information from across your device, the cloud, apps, and the web. Visual results designed specifically for touch make it easy to find what you need. There’s no need to open a browser—simply swipe and tap to start searching.

Let me tell you – I was super impressed!

Tons of great sites and posts came up with DIY holiday gift tutorials, ideas, crafts, and there were even some related search terms to try out for more results. It was a very thorough search, and it pulled from tons of sources.

Because you can only use Bing Smart Search on a computer or tablet with Windows 8.1 I was unable to check this out on my main laptop, but I am using it on the family desktop. But, one of the really neat features about Bing Smart Search is that it also searches through your computer. So if you have saved information on a topic that you are currently searching for, it will pull that up too! This feature alone makes me really wish I had it on my laptop — I save so many craft project ideas and recipes and then forget about them; it would be great to have them come up in addition to new ones found online when I use a search feature.

Plus I really love that you can use Bing Search no matter what you are doing. You don’t have to leave the app you are currently using, or open a browser to search for information. You just swipe and tap (or click) search. Its that easy!

I ended up finding a few sites that had some really good projects and I am planning on making a few with the kids from this search.

I love these super cute Sled Ornaments, and I think they would be great for family gifts. The kids can put them together, and we can use them as tags for the gifts we pass out to aunts and uncles (we tend to a family gift of cookies, fudge and other yummy things instead of individual gifts for each person because Jay and I both have very large extended families). I am a total sucker for personalized gifts – so I am sure a few people in our house will get one of these this year!

I am also going to be making a few of the items that I found from this homemade gift ideas post on Tip Junkie’s site … there are tons of great items to make for the kids, and even some for their teachers! And all of the image search results really inspired me. These cute bird ornaments will definitely be finding their way onto my tree this year 🙂

Finding out about Bing Search has been awesome — I can already tell that it is going to be a huge time saver, and that it is another feature that is going to draw me a bit more to the desktop computer. I do a lot of searching every day, and having an easier, quicker way to get it done is definitely a plus!
