Healthy Sweet, Swirly, Fun… Yum!

My kids love to snack. It is probably one of the most commonly uttered phrases in my home …

“Mom, can I have a snack?”

It can be very daunting to constantly come up with new, and healthy snacks for them to enjoy. Especially when you take into consideration the fact that they can never agree on what they want and that what they loved yesterday, they will not love today.

The only exception to this rule is yogurt.

My kids love yogurt and will eat it with any meal and as a snack every day of the week!

I do let them pick out their own yogurt at the store, and Yoplait Trix Yogurt is their collective favorite. They love the fun colors, great flavors and the fact that when you mix the two flavors together the color changes. And they think they are pulling one over on me by getting a sweet”dessert” treat for snack and at meals.

But I have a secret…. Yoplait Trix Yogurt may taste like an unhealthy dessert, but it is actually made without high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners!

My daughter is very sensitive to added colors in her food. And while I try to find natural snacks for the entire family, they are not always a huge hit for my kids. They want to eat the snacks they see on TV and the same snacks that their friends have. I don’t want to deprive them from having fun “kids” food, and it’s no fun to say “No” to everything that they ask for when we are at the supermarket. It is frustrating for them and for me.

It is always a huge plus in my book when I can find a special treat that they both like to eat and that I don’t have to worry about giving them. Yoplait Trix Yogurt is one snack that I feel good about letting them have — even if they are asking for it every day!

Yoplait Trix Yogurt makes a great addition to any breakfast or lunch, or the perfect stand alone snack. My kids love it as is, but on super hot days, I like to make them frozen Trix pops!

Yoplait Trix Yogurt Pops are super easy to make:

  • Just insert a popsicle stick (or if you don’t one – like I didn’t – you can use a kids plastic spoon) into the center of the yogurt, through the lid.
  • Freeze for 2-3 hours.
  • When ready to eat, remove lid, and run sides of yogurt package under hot water to loosen, making it easy to pull the pop out.
  • Enjoy!

School is starting here soon for V, and she has already requested that I send “lots of yogurt” with her lunch. My trick to keeping her yogurt nice and cold for her? I stick a package in the freezer, place one in her lunch box before she leaves in the morning and not only does it help keep the rest of her lunch cold, but it is thawed (and still cold!) by lunch time.

Just remember….

“Trix are for kids” but unwanted additives definitely are not.
