I am a Kohl’s fanatic and I have been for many years. My first apartment was a 5 minute drive from Kohl’s and I was a frequent shopper. When I moved a year later, I was a bit too far to visit weekly, and I tended to be an online Kohl’s shopper. Just a few month’s ago, a brand new Kohl’s opened near my mom’s house – I was beyond thrilled! I think it goes without saying that I shop there …. a lot!

I love the quality products that Kohl’s carries – especially their house brand items. The kids clothes are so cute, and they wash and wear beautifully. No matter what I am looking for, I can find it at Kohl’s! Combine their stellar product selection with their fantastic prices and it is no surprise that I have been a repeat customer all these years.

In addition to being a savvy shoppers best friend, Kohl’s digs deeper and gives back to the community in various ways. One of these ways is through the multiple Kohl’s Cares merchandise programs. These programs benefit different causes through the purchase of specific merchandise both in stores and online. Depending on the items, you can be supporting breast cancer research or  kid’s health and education – in addition to the constant care that Kohl’s takes to reduce their environmental impact. Even the associates do their share by volunteering and earning grants and donations for various causes. With each of the programs, 100% of the net profits go directly to supporting the cause.

I had the chance to check out the latest merchandise being offering for the Kohl’s Cares Kid’s Program that is going on through the end of June (the product merchandise periodically changes). My kids were so excited to receive the plush toys and the “Llama, Llama” books.

Violet and I have read Llama Llama Red Pajama in the past, and it was a huge hit. We could both relate to the struggles that the end of the day and bedtime mean, and how it can seem like forever when a child is waiting patiently for their Mama to come check on them (again!) at night. This was our first time reading Llama Llama Misses Mama and we both enjoyed this story as well. I love that these books feature real life situations in a way that kids can understand and relate to, but that it is still fun and interesting because of the great characters. Both of these books are offered in hardcover for only $5 – yup, that is the everyday price, no coupon or sale needed. Just 5 buck!

The two plush toys (which were both $5 each as well) were quickly accepted into the stuffed animal communities in our home. Violet was smitten with the zebra, and Ian loved the llama. I was very pleasantly surprised that there was no fighting over who got which animal, they both immediately took to opposite ones. I was very impressed with the quality of these toys, and even though we have only had them for a week or so, they have been put through a lot – rough and tough play with both kids, playing outside, being a sleeping buddy at night, even having to cleaned off a few times – and they are still looking great.

I love to cook, and was very excited to try out the two cookbooks that are also offered through the Kohl’s Cares promotion. Each cookbook is only $5 and they are both filled with great recipes. I have always wanted a Top Secret Restaurant Recipes 2 books, and I couldn’t have been happier with the recipes contained inside this one! I am a Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuit lover – I could eat them by the dozen! – and was so excited to see the recipe in this cookbook. I made them for dinner, and ya know what? They did taste just like Red Lobster! I can’t wait to try out some of the other recipes.

With Violet heading to kindergarten in the fall, I have made it my duty to put together a bunch of great lunch recipes so she can have a great lunch every day. I will be including many of the recipes that I found in the Top 100 Recipes for a Healthy Lunchbox cookbook – I never would have thought of putting some of these items together, yet the look so good. Plus I really like that the recipes look easy and quick, and are mostly ingredients that I keep on hand. 100 great recipes for just 5 bucks – you can’t beat it!

You can purchase all these great items in your local Kohl’s store and online. (Hint: Use Kohl’s coupons and promo code from ChameleonJohn)
